ranting- the cure for all ailments there is no god. i’ve never felt any presence of an intelligent higher power and i doubt i ever will. it’s not cynicism, nor is it whiny teenage angst. my world view is a simple logic: things just are. eventually science will explain it all. of course countless generations of god-fearers will cry “ah-ha, but who created science?”. such boring questions are rooted in the narrow field of general human understanding. quite simply, most humans still think everything revolves around humanity. hence the concept of god has been created to detract attention from the basic insignificance of everything. our little world, with all our little lives, are ultimately going to be utterly without consequence. humanity could end tomorrow or in 999 billion millennia, but eventually it will die out. but this is immaterial, as i understand it, because when i die the world will die with me, as my perception of it will no longer exist. you, the reader, may live on but when you die the same will be true for you as well. here i should stress that this understanding doesn’t scare or depress me, so don’t worry, i’m not about to slash my wrists. however, those who are bothered by it turn to god, a beautifully crafted artificial sense of higher purpose, a confusion of fabrication for realisation. people think that their ‘understanding’ of god gives humanity superiority over everything else, from pigs to plants to paperclips. without the idea of god people would realise that they’re really no more important than the shit they flush down their toilets. the core of all these troubles is that many people are scared of their own mortality. so they created heaven, hell, reincarnation and all manner of other opportunities for pseudo-immortality. not that I want to change anyone’s beliefs. i don’t really care how these people live or what they believe. in fact i’m glad they exist, along with racists, homophobes, carnivores and everyone else i disagree with. i do admire anyone who can stick to a belief away from public consensus and those silly concepts of morality. anyway, the world would be really boring if everyone agreed with me, so don’t.
